The story behind the command

BEYOND THE SURFACE.

The Deck Commander Difference

At Deck Commander, we believe that outdoor living should be a direct extension of your home’s character and quality. Founded in Waukesha, Wisconsin, our journey began with a simple objective: to provide structural integrity that stands up to the harsh Midwest seasons while delivering unmatched aesthetic beauty.

We don’t just build decks; we engineer outdoor environments. From the initial soil assessment to the final grain of stain, every decision is made with military-grade precision. This “Command” mentality ensures that your investment is safe, durable, and breathtaking.

Deck Commander and its employees combine both the latest and greatest building trends and materials with decades of experience in the decking and fencing industries. We at deck commander take great pride in insuring that every homeowners investment is built to last. All deck commander employees have attended extensive training at Timbertech’s Azek university in addition to onsite training to ensure all deck commander decks follow strict installation guidelines set by owner and lead carpenter Mike Olson.

With 7 years in business, and 15+ years experience as a carpenter, I handle all quoting, plan drafting, and design work from start to finish.  As the main point of contact during the quoting process, I work closely with clients to turn ideas into clear, buildable plans while ensuring everything aligns with code requirements.  My extensive knowledge of what can and cannot be done helps set realistic expectations, avoid surprises, and create designs that showcase the clients style/wishes while maintaining fuctionality .  I take pride in delivering detailed, accurate proposals, and thoughtful craftsmanship.  Outside of work, I am avid outdoorsman who appreciates hard work, fresh air, and building things that stand the test of time.

Business Manager

As Business Manager, I am the main point of contact for all aspects of every project. Your go to person from first call to final invoice. I keep communication flowing smoothly between teams, clients, and vendors. As secondary contact for quoting process, I assist in getting estimates and contracts completed. I handle all HOA and permit applications, diggers hotline, coordinate scheduling and oversee all administrative duties. With over 20 years of experience in office management and accounting – plus 6 years focused specifically on construction business management – I bring organization, accuracy, and a calm head to even the busiest job sites. In my first year with Deck Commander, I have learned the ropes quickly (and prove that being the only girl in the mix just means I run the show a little more efficiently 😊). Outside the office, you will usually find me elbow deep in an automotive rebuild or at the track racing, because whether it is cars or construction, I have always loved building things that perform.
